Did you know that today is the first day of meteorological spring? It’s kind of hard to believe when there’s more snow in the forecast for this week and temperatures are predicted to stay below freezing for quite a while. But who am I kidding, I don’t really have it in me to complain about the snow or the cold. Despite this being Boston’s second snowiest season on record (so far), and I think the second coldest February on record, and despite my terrible commutes because of the virtual shutdown of our public transportation system- I still love winter. And I still love this winter. And personally, I’m going to make the most of citrus and winter cocktail season while I still can.
Here’s a selection of some of my top winter cocktails, all made with winter citrus or winter flavors. Enjoy!
Grapefruit Margarita– grapefruit, tequila, and a salgar (salt/sugar) rim, yum!
Bourbon and Blood Orange Cocktail – the name says it all. Simple and delicious.
Nutella Hot Chocolate– nutella, ice cream, and milk. That’s all you need to create this perfect hot beverage (but it’s easy to spike!).
Apple Cider Hot Toddy-the perfect warming cocktail.
The Texas Sipper Cocktail– freshly squeezed grapefruit for the win.
Paloma Cocktail– grapefruit, lime, tequila, and a little club soda.
