It was a busy three day weekend around here, and I’m just about ready to relax on the porch with a beverage. Continuing with the summer cocktail theme, this week’s drink of the week is the Paloma.
A favorite in Mexico, this classic cocktail is a light and refreshing winner. You can make it with grapefruit soda or fresh grapefruit juice and club soda, though I definitely prefer the fresh stuff. This is one of the smoother tequila-based drinks, and doesn’t need to be too spirit forward. Sit back, relax, and make yourself an easy Paloma cocktail.
Paloma Cocktail
Makes: 1 cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 ounce tequila blanco
- 2 ounces fresh squeezed grapefruit juice (1/2 of a grapefruit)
- 1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice (~1/2 lime)
- simple syrup
- club soda
Directions
Add the tequila, grapefruit juice, and lime juice to a glass over ice. Stir, and then add simple syrup to taste. Top with club soda and enjoy.
Notes
We prefer Espolon, but use any other 100% agave tequila. Feel free to salt the rim if you like that kind of thing.
