I hope everyone had a happy and delicious Thanksgiving. We ended up staying here in Boston and having an easy but tasty dinner for just the two of us (with this guy hovering for scraps). We love to host, but after three sets of friends and family visiting and staying at our place over a 5 week period this fall, it was actually really nice to not have to clean. And with my immediate family away on vacation and a recent November long weekend in Nashville visiting Stephen’s family, it made sense to just stay put. I definitely did not miss a 5 1/2 hour drive that somehow turns into a 9 hour drive over Thanksgiving! So we hung out with some visiting college friends in the morning and then came home to enjoy our mini feast.
Staying local also meant that we were able to get our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving this year. And thankfully there’s never any sort of Black Friday rush at the Christmas tree farm. I know, I know, it’s still November, but it’ll be December tomorrow and I am so ready for all things holiday related. I mean, I’m all for pumpkin and apple and fall harvest type foods and desserts, but what I really want is chocolate. Always chocolate. And I started the season off with this rich, decadent, creamy, and just plain delicious nutella hot chocolate. And not just regular nutella hot chocolate, this is a MELTED ICE CREAM nutella hot chocolate. You will seriously love this. I mean SERIOUSLY LOVE this. Because not only is it out of this world good, but it’s just so gosh darn easy. No need to chop up chocolate, no need to carefully whisk in cocoa powder, just heat up some nutella, vanilla ice cream, and milk. That’s really it. I chose to enjoy this booze free, but feel free to add some Kahlua, Amaretto, or Frangelico if you’d like to booze it up.
Like this hot toddy, this nutella hot chocolate is perfect for relaxing on the couch with a warm blanket. Or, if you’re us, enjoy this hot chocolate during your annual viewing of Elf while decorating the tree. Either way, just make it now. Meanwhile, I’m off to enjoy another holiday movie and a steaming cup of hot chocolate!
