Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

July 31, 2015

This chocolate smoothie bowl is healthy enough for breakfast but tastes like dessert!

I resisted the smoothie bowl craze for a bit, but I finally gave in and decided to try it out at home. And….I love it! There’s something very satisfying about adding the extra toppings to give it a bit of crunch.  I still love the ease of drinking smoothies on the go, but when I’m eating at home I kind of prefer the more substantial taste of the smoothie bowl.  It’s thicker than a smoothie and just tastes a bit heartier, plus I like that I can’t scarf it down quite as quickly as a smoothie. And I especially love this chocolate smoothie bowl. It feels healthy enough for breakfast but also kind of like dessert. That’s pretty much a win-win, right?

Another winning thing about this chocolate smoothie bowl? It’s totally easy to make. AND, there are a ton of ways to vary this up. Change up the fruit, use whatever nut butter you like, add some greens, top with coconut, the possibilities are endless. Sometimes I’ll make a caffeinated smoothie out of it by adding a couple handfuls of spinach and half a cup of iced coffee to the mix. Not quite as pretty, but delicious nonetheless.
