Try this Raspberry Moscow Mule for a springtime variation on the classic cocktail!
Doesn’t it seem like Moscow Mule mugs are suddenly everywhere? I mean, I obviously love the cocktail, but it seems like every store now wants to sell the classic copper mug. I guess I’m okay with it, it just seems a little funny. I am also more than okay with this springtime Raspberry Moscow Mule variation. It’s a little early for berry season around these parts, but I just couldn’t resist picking up some raspberries the last time I went to the store. They turned out to be not quite sweet enough for me, but that certainly didn’t stop me from snacking on them or immediately trying them out in a cocktail! If you’ve never had a Moscow Mule, the classic variation is vodka, ginger beer (not ginger ale), and fresh lime juice. Simple and delicious for sure, but I think this raspberry variation is maybe just a little better, especially if you use a good quality ginger beer. My favorite is Fever Tree (not a product placement, I swear) because it actually tastes real, but you could certainly use any type of ginger beer you can find in your grocery store.
This cocktail is pretty simple to put together. Just juice a lime, muddle some raspberries, shake it up with the vodka and ice, and top it off with ginger beer and ta-da you’re good to go. You could follow this same recipe with any type of berry and I’m sure it’d be delicious.
Here’s our drink in action (many thanks to the hubs for agreeing to “star” in my first animated gif):
Raspberry Moscow Mule
Makes: 1 cocktail
Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 10 raspberries
- 1 bottle of ginger beer
- ice
Directions
Muddle the raspberries and lime juice together in a cocktail shaker. Add the vodka and some ice and shake well. Strain into a copper mug or tall glass over ice and then top off with ginger beer. Enjoy!
Notes
Depending on what brand of ginger beer you use, you may need to add some simple syrup or agave to your cocktail.
