It’s National Margarita Day!
I had no idea such a thing existed, but I’m kind of excited. Not so much for me, but because today also happens to be Stephen’s birthday. And since he loves margaritas there was no way I was going to miss out on a chance to make him a special margarita to celebrate. Enter the Pepper Jelly Margarita.
This tastes very similar to a classic margarita but the pepper jelly adds just a hint of heat and a lot of fun color to brighten up a cold winter day. It’s easy to make and delicious to drink- give it a try and celebrate National Margarita Day today!
Pepper Jelly Margarita
Makes: 1 cocktail
- 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1½ oz tequila (100% agave)
- ¾ oz orange liqueur (such as triple sec or cointreau)
- 2 tsp hot pepper jelly
- salt (preferably kosher or sea salt)
Directions
Add some salt to a bowl or small plate. Run a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass. then dip the top of the glass in the salt and turn until well coated.
Add the lime juice and hot pepper jelly to large glass and whisk well. Pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and add the tequila and orange liqueur. Shake well and then strain into an ice filled glass. Be sure you strain it well or you’ll have bits of pepper jelly in the drink. Enjoy!
