It’s time for another Sunday cocktail. A grapefruit margarita probably seems like an odd choice in the beginning of January. Maybe you were expecting another warm drink like this apple cider hot toddy? Well, don’t worry, there are still plenty of hot drinks to come, but we are in prime grapefruit season and I just couldn’t let another week pass without making a grapefruit cocktail. This grapefruit margarita is different from a normal margarita in a few ways; it uses grapefruit instead of lime, St. Germain instead of Cointreau, and salgar* (salt/sugar combo) instead of salt. Check out the salgar rim!
It all adds up to a margarita that is just a bit different and is perfect for winter. As always, I highly recommend using freshly squeezed juice. I also recommend using a tequila that is 100% agave (we use Espolon). You may be escaping the cold by hunkering down inside in your sweats right now (unless that’s just me), but this grapefruit margarita will make everything better. I promise.
